Monkey See Monkey Do!

Today I have a lovely Monkey See Monkey Do that I am copying straight from Emma Thea at Manicurity!

Here's her design for the hunger games challenge, District 13:

Aren't they great? She used a base of OPI Number One Nemesis and the goo is Orly Glowstick.  I love it! It looks so toxic.

So, I tried it:

I also used OPI Number One Nemesis, but I mattified it with Warpaint Beauty Matte, and the goo is China Glaze Sun-Kissed.  I like hers a bit better in the pics, but mine was still cool in real life. I had to lower the red tones a bit to get it the color it is, I should have done a touch more. Anyways, make sure to check out her Blog, she's got some really great nail art!

Happy 4th of July!

I love me some fireworks! So shiny.
...shiny...

Sorry. I went to space for a minute there. Shiny, like my mani today! I also love me some orly metallics.  I started my whole collection with some boring Sally Hansons and Wet n Wild.  When I started reading nail blogs, I ran out and bought Orly Dazzle. That was in November, now I'm on my second bottle.  I started lemming Sweet Peacock shortly after that. Guess what? Just a few months ago, Orly brought it back! I snatched that one up quick. Finally just the other day I bought Orly Rock It.  It's gorgeous! So what does all this mean?

Super Shiny 4th of July Mani!!!

Behold...

Shiny fireworks and wavy flags and happiness. These pictures do not do it justice at all.
SOOOOOOOOO SHINY!!!!!

I really love all these polishes, they are super easy to apply, opaque in only two coats! They are also great stamping polishes, perfectly beautiful over black.  Actually I lie, I have not tried to stamp with Rock It (red), but I bet it's great.

Since this is a scheduled post, I have no idea what I am doing today. I think I am seeing Spider Man. The new one of course.  Hopefully with some friends. Well, thank you all for reading.

Have a great 4th!

As always, Happy Manicures!

Disney Villain!

Week 3, Disney!  I was originally thinking princesses and evil witches/queens/stepmothers, but really that's just conditional thinking from my lovely Sweetpea.  I finally started thinking outside the box and came up with my favorite disney movie ever...

Emperor's New Groove!!!

I love that movie! It is so hilarious and the good guy is kind of a minor character.  The bad guys don't die or get banished, one is turned into a kitten and the other becomes a scout leader. The main character is like an antihero.

So, for the villains we have Yzma and Kronk.  Yzma is the real bad guy(gal), Kronk is her henchman and doesn't really realize that he's with a bad guy. For my nails I did (from thumb to pinky): Yzma's Cape thingy, A tribal design in yzma's colors, The label on the extract of Llama, Kronk's uniform, and The hammer from Yzma's fantasy.

Favorite quote from these characters:
"I know, I'll turn him into a flea, a harmless little flea. Then I'll put him in a box and put that box inside another box and I'll mail that box to myself.  And when it arrives, HA HA HA, I'LL SMASH IT WITH A HAMMER!!!" LOL

OK, here are the pics:

I love the llama label.  I'm going to do a whole mani with animal silhouettes.

On thursday the heroes come to save the day!

MOAR SKULLS!!!

I was so happy with Blue Me by Blackheart, that I had to go get more.  I now have a family of Seven Blackheart Nail Lacquers! They are available at Hot Topic stores and Hot Topic Online for just $5(plus shipping if you order online). They are vegen friendly, which I'm not sure if that really means anything in polish.  They smell funny, and it makes me sneeze, but they are by far the best polishes I own.  The formula is incredible. Super smooth, super shiny, and gorgeous!  I want the rest of the line. Here's what I have so far:

If I could figure out how to do a page break I would.  This is a pic heavy post and I apologize if this sucks for you.

Here are the individual bottles and swatches.  All of them are 3 coats, no top coat. I didn't use a top coat because they all have unique finishes.

Beautiful Revenge

This one is like a jelly sandwich in a bottle.  This is three coats and I think it is perfect.  The glitter is well proportioned and it covers nicely.

WTFuchsia

This one is a nice neon-ish fuchsia.  I say neon-ish because it doesn't dry as matte as my other neons but it has a nice satin finish.

Violet Tendancies

This one is so pretty! I'll have to do a comparison because it looks exactly like the purple color club franken I did a while back Purple Paradise.  This is from me remembering the color though so they could be quite different.

Shocking Pink

I think this one has a crappy name.  I mean Shocking Pink? Come on.  It's more of a coral anyways.  But it does have a nice satin finish and is a great color.  I'm excited to wear this one.

Deceit

I have a teal like this from Zoya, but this one has tiny glitter along with the flakies.  The jelly base is super squishy too.  I love this one, I wanna layer it over shocking pink!

Blue Me

This one I've already reviewed but I love it so much I can't stop talking about it.  I'm wearing it right now and it's the second time I've worn it.  I am all about art but this one is so gorgeous I do very minimal stuff to it.  It is super shiny, super jelly, and super fantastic. Ok, I'll stop now. LOL

P.S. This one is black light responsive! My phone has a nervous breakdown when I try to photograph it, but it is super cool, trust me.

Creep Show

I also really like this one.  It doesn't get very opaque on real nails, but it'd be awesome over a lime neon.  I've seen it over white and it really tames down and doesn't look as toxic.  Anyways it's got glitter in it and it glows in the dark. Win!

I love these polishes and I recommend everyone buy them. If you like bright colors, these are it.  There are also a lot more black light and glowy ones, I'll get those next.

Hope you enjoyed these!

Happy Manicures!

Oh, P.S. Do you like my new watermark?

DC Villains!

Time for another installment of Heroes Vs Villains.  Today we have the dc villains.  I chose to go with heroes from the JLA, and so went with their respective nemeses.
I have Ragdoll, enemy of the Flash; Angle Man, enemy of Wonder Woman; Black Alice, enemy of Black Canary; Lex Luthor, enemy of Superman; and The Joker, enemy of Batman.
It was really hard to decide who I would do. I wanted aesthetically pleasing heroes and villains, and also not extremely obscure ones.  I knew immediately that Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman would be included.  I also like the Flash but I know of none of his enemies (google is amazing in this respect).  Then I thought I needed another girl and chose the Black Canary.  Their enemies were not nearly as easy to choose from.  Joker and Lex were simple obvious choices.  Wonder Woman's archnemesis is a nazi though and I was not about to put a swastika on my nails. Ick.  So, I picked a more obscure but seriously funny villain, Angle Man.  All his bad guy stuff is centered around angles, LOL. Then, I was looking at the Flash.  I like Rose/Thorn a chick with multiple personalities and one is a villain.  I could not get thorns to look right on my nails though, so I went back and chose Ragdoll, which is actually a more recurring villain.  Ragdoll is like the green goblin in that Dad started this franchise, being triple jointed gave him the name Ragdoll, and one of his sons, also being triple jointed, took over.  Finally, I chose Black Canary, and for some reason google seems to think her main enemy is the green arrow.  Maybe cuz they had a horrible break up or something.  Anyways, I found that she had an enemy called Black Alice, and being a huge fan of the name Alice, I chose that one.  Alice can steal the magical powers of others.  My pic shows her after she stole Shazam's powers. Anyway, without further ado, here is my art!

Excellent, now to start on the Heroes.  I have a feeling this may be easier...

X-Men Heroes!

I am overwhelmed by how much you guys liked the last post.  Thank you so much for your comments! This challenge is so much fun! So, today we did the heroes to come in and save the day! Since my last was X-Men villains obviously I wanted to do the X-Men heroes today.  I went for the aesthetically pleasing Storm, Rogue, Gambit, Nightcrawler, and Wolverine.  I am very pleased with how this turned out, in fact I took off all but storm and painted the rest of my nails like that.  The lightning bolt makes me happy.  Now, without further ado:

I loved this one!  I am also really happy to have it done on time.  I also want to thank my wonderful Fiance` Dingus for his amazing help on these manis.  He came up with the gambit one.  (That one is my second favorite.)  I am just giddy right now, this is so much fun!

Skulls!!!

Ok, so this is one of the first times I have posted about something the day I did it.  I bought the polish yesterday, tried it, and loved it instantly.  But, then I stamped all over it and made it look stupid.  Sometimes less is more, so I took it all off and repainted, then put just a line of green pearls on my ring fingers.  So gorgeous! Makes me think of dinosaurs. Rawr!
This polish was mentioned on Macabre Manicures and then Eskimo Pie sent me a message on Facebook saying this polish made her think of me because its in a skull shaped bottle!  So, of course, I had to have some.  I got this beautiful blue called Blue Me (black light responsive) and a sparkly green called Creep Show (glow-in-the-dark).  Both are a dream jelly! They go on super smooth and glossy and so squishy! They are from a new line at hot topic, called Black Heart.  I expected a crappy polish from hot topic as most of their stuff is awful, but I really wanted the bottle.  So I got some and I am very pleasantly surprised! I will be buying more. I took pics, but sadly my camera curls up in the fetal position and starts sobbing when I try to take black light pics. Believe me though, it is awesome! And now, without any more ado, the pics!

Super cute bottles yeah? I wanted them just for the bottles but after falling in love with the formula, I now have a legit reason to buy them.  Plus, they're only $5! Epic win!

My first Zoya

So, I recently realized that there are 3 beauty shops within walking distance of my house.  Good news for me, bad news for my wallet.  I checked out one I had never been to a couple weeks ago and came home with my first zoya, Mayzie.  It's a beautiful teal jelly with green flakies in it.  The man at the shop said it should be opaque in 3 coats.  Well, I couldn't get it opaque in 6. So, I layered it over FingerPaints Blue Raspberry Taffy and it was gorgeous.  Even in the sunlight a photo doesn't do it justice.

See? The flakies were iridescent! Gorgeous color. and a not bad paint job if I do say so myself.
Ok, well I'm going to go paint my nails again with some new stuff I got today.  Check back later!

Warm Tips!

LOL, I recently got my striping tape from china and they sent this great little paper with tips for disputes.  It said at the top, Warm Tips.  I think I will use that when I decide to do a tip post, like I am doing now.

Did you know that chapstick is great for your lips? Of course you did.  Did you also know that it is great for those messy manicures (sponging, watermarble, splatter, etc.) to make it super easy to get the polish off your skin? Yeah. I know. Smack in the forehead, duh.
I was using petroleum jelly and a q-tip. Super messy, annoying, bleh.  Then I thought that I should try that other stuff that contains petroleum jelly, plain old chapstick. It is amazing! Just apply it around your nails, be careful not to get it on them! And after the messy manicure just use a q-tip to wipe off the extra polish. Done and done.

You know what else is cool? Using acrylic paints for little paintings on your nails.  I haven't quite got the skillz for the mona lisa yet, but I have done some fun stuff, you'll see it soon, *wink.  Just get one of those super tiny brushes in the art aisle and those tiny little pots of paint that are all attached together.  It's all you need! I only do my left hand because the right hand is nicely trained for painting, the left hand is mentally disabled, so my paintings would look like butt on my right hand.  I like to do fun designs that go with the art, on my right hand.

Okay, I think that's enough warm tips for today. I must go make dinner!

Sunrise/Sunset

A couple weeks ago, I decided to try something with my delicious new color club Take Wing collection.  I started with a base of about 3 coats of Daisy Does It, a beautiful yellow.  Then I used hole reinforcers to cover the half moon area and placed some of my new striping tape in lines radiating from the half moons.  I used Sky High and Wing Fling in a gradient pattern over that(and let me tell you, sponging over tape is so much easier than just painting over it.  I may do that specifically from now on.) This is what I got: (Please excuse the crappy looking cuticles and tip wear, I wore this for about 3 days before remembering that I hadn't taken pics)

I think it was a great effect.  Super sparkly too!

Wedding!

Yay! Congratulations Jenn and Michael! On May 12th these two wonderful people got married and my lovely Dingus officiated!  Not enough exclamation marks to express the joy!

Happy Couple!

Their colors were purple and peach and hot pink.  I did some nails for the Best Lady, a friend of mine and her hubby, Sweetpea, and myself.  I forgot to get pics of Sweetpea's nails and I should have, they were a pretty glitter purple with turquoise dried flowers on the thumbs(only nails they would fit). Oh well, here's the rest:

These are mine, boring cuz I was working on everyone else's lol. It's my color club franken Purple Paradise and Orly's Luxe. Simple and Sweet.

These are the nails of the Best Lady.  She is a really good friend of our and theirs of course.  The groomspeople were all wearing purple and black pinstripe and so I did my Purple Paradise with a black striper on top.  Then added the flower decals.  She was super happy!

This is Eskimo Pie, one of my besties.  Her hubby was one of the groomspeople and she's not very girly but had some really nice girly clothes on for the wedding.  I offered to do her nails in something that was kinda her style. That's a white creme from Pure Ice and A purple crackle from China Glaze.

This is her hubby Cynical Abe.  The beard below is why we call him Abe, he looks amish.  We got on a discussion of how Penn Gillette paints one nail for sleight of had purposes and decided he needed one nail painted.

The camera came out and he got creative, LOL.

And this is my beautiful family.  My love: Dingus, the cheesy Miss SweatPea, and me: Mograt.

Well, there you have it, a new post!
