Sunrise/Sunset

A couple weeks ago, I decided to try something with my delicious new color club Take Wing collection.  I started with a base of about 3 coats of Daisy Does It, a beautiful yellow.  Then I used hole reinforcers to cover the half moon area and placed some of my new striping tape in lines radiating from the half moons.  I used Sky High and Wing Fling in a gradient pattern over that(and let me tell you, sponging over tape is so much easier than just painting over it.  I may do that specifically from now on.) This is what I got: (Please excuse the crappy looking cuticles and tip wear, I wore this for about 3 days before remembering that I hadn't taken pics)

I think it was a great effect.  Super sparkly too!

Franken-Polish and Life Goals

I've caught the franken bug.  I started a rainbow dash franken last night and just ordered 72 tiny pots of nail art glitter and a dozen empty bottles.  Along with the bottles I had to order a bunch of other stuff (minimum order of $25, meh). I got the steel balls to go inside, three wheels of rhinestones, some gloves (so I don't ruin my nails when I do other nails), and some body butter. I'll take a pic and show you guys a great haul post when I get it all.

The other day I think I decided that I would do nails as volunteer work.  I want to do them at nursing homes and chemo-therapy appointments.  I've known so many people with cancer and know that chemo is horrible and grueling, I want to do something for them.  I want to be certified obviously, but I think that's my goal.  Right now I do my own nails and some of my friend's nails.  One of my friends asked how much I would charge to do friend's nails.  I was kind of taken aback, I didn't think of charging my friends, although I know they would be happy to pay me for the work.  What do you guys think? Should I charge my friends? If so, How much? I was thinking $10. Hand massage, filing shaping, color, maybe some art. I need advice! LOL

P.S. So this isn't a completely picture-less post, here's the love of my life(the canine one anyway) Bambelina!

Wedding!

Yay! Congratulations Jenn and Michael! On May 12th these two wonderful people got married and my lovely Dingus officiated!  Not enough exclamation marks to express the joy!

Happy Couple!

Their colors were purple and peach and hot pink.  I did some nails for the Best Lady, a friend of mine and her hubby, Sweetpea, and myself.  I forgot to get pics of Sweetpea's nails and I should have, they were a pretty glitter purple with turquoise dried flowers on the thumbs(only nails they would fit). Oh well, here's the rest:

These are mine, boring cuz I was working on everyone else's lol. It's my color club franken Purple Paradise and Orly's Luxe. Simple and Sweet.

These are the nails of the Best Lady.  She is a really good friend of our and theirs of course.  The groomspeople were all wearing purple and black pinstripe and so I did my Purple Paradise with a black striper on top.  Then added the flower decals.  She was super happy!

This is Eskimo Pie, one of my besties.  Her hubby was one of the groomspeople and she's not very girly but had some really nice girly clothes on for the wedding.  I offered to do her nails in something that was kinda her style. That's a white creme from Pure Ice and A purple crackle from China Glaze.

This is her hubby Cynical Abe.  The beard below is why we call him Abe, he looks amish.  We got on a discussion of how Penn Gillette paints one nail for sleight of had purposes and decided he needed one nail painted.

The camera came out and he got creative, LOL.

And this is my beautiful family.  My love: Dingus, the cheesy Miss SweatPea, and me: Mograt.

Well, there you have it, a new post!

Sick, and busy...

This sucks so much.  I have been sick since last Tuesday, now I find out I have 2 midterm projects and tons of other homework that needs to get done.  So, since this is a hobby, it must go on hiatus until I am finished.  It will probably just be 2 weeks, that's when everything is due. So, I will be photographing when I can and I am still doing my nails, so when I am done with all the serious stuff, I'll be back and rolling! Thank you all so much for reading, see you soon!

Happy Manicures(and homework)!

MOAR COLOR CLUB!

I am just obsessed with the Color Club Take Wing collection.  It just makes me so happy! I picked up Dazzle by Orly as one of my first purchases when I started doing nail art again.  I love how nicely it covers in just ONE coat and how shiny it is.  Well, I decided that I wanted colors like it.  I started mixing Dazzle with the brightest colors I had.  These frankens were ok, not great.  But then I saw swatches of color club.  I was sitting in my car reading the blogroll from my phone, and decided then and there that I would own all the colors.  I also made a purple(which color club did not make, sadly) and the rest is history.  For this mani, I wanted something simple and incorporating some layering.  It turned out to be a pain in the a$$ but it was pretty.  The green (Fly With Me) is a very yellowish green. So it looks yellow on my nails. But it's still cool, and please excuse the total crap that is my pinky. LOL

I love the sharp lines on the purple, I think that happened because I put a layer of Seche Vite over the green so I could do the purple faster. Look for a Seche Vite review soon, that stuff is the bomb.

Product Feature: OPI Nail Envy

So, Today I think I will tell you about one(of many) of my favorite products.  This is a great nail strengthener by OPI called Nail Envy.  I use it under every mani I do.  Before I started using it, my manis wouldn't last long, my nails would flake and peel and with it would come the polish.  I didn't think there was anything I could do until I saw one of the blogs I follow, (probably Nailasaurus, Polishaholic, or Let Them Have Polish, let me know if you use it too!)  It was quite a while ago so I don't remember exactly who mentioned it.  I went in search of this amazing thing.  I found it, at $16.99 a bottle! Whew! Way too much for my little budget.  But I had tried a ton of others with absolutely no results.  I decided to try this stuff even with the giant price tag. (should've started at ebay where I recently found 2 bottles for $11.95, *facepalm) I will never put regular polish directly on my nail again! This is the most amazing product I have ever used! I have strong long non-peeling nails all thanks to OPI Nail Envy. It's amazing! It's actually hard to clip my nails, they are so thick and strong. Try it. It's awesome.

Also, here is my new favorite polish again in a spongy mani.  Color Club - Take wing, With Orly - Dazzle, and Wet n Wild - Black Creme`. Love this!

So, I hope you like my little showcase and I hope it helps you out!

Happy Manicures!

disclaimer: I was not contacted by OPI in any way and I decided to do this review of my own accord.
