August Haul Post

So, I thought that I would post all the polishes I get in a month. It actually surprised me though. I didn't realize I bought so much. I hit three blog sales, some store sales and won two prizes! I didn't actually spend that much money but I did get a lot. Let's start with blog sales:

The Real Teal, Skylar, Pool Boy-Toy, Gothic Lolita, and Fowl Play

Vivid Purple, Red Glitter, Sunshine Sparkle, and Worth The Risque.

Blue Rhapsody, Stroke of Brilliance, Turned up Turquoise, and Riveting.

I won an unconventional give-away at the Polished Zombie's Blog:

Manglaze: Mayonnaise and Cabron!
 I also won a give-away at 2Chix Laquer's facebook page:

Re-Phreshing!

These are some great dollar store finds as well as some cheapos that I got at drugstores:

Black Striper, holo glitter, Boho Gold(peridot dupe), Green Magnetic, Olive Green, and Lavender.
I had to add to my blackheart beauty collection when Hot Topic had a bogo sale!

Toxicity and Primpin'.

Whew! That was a lot. Ok, I've been playing with these quite a bit so you'll see most of them in the next few days. I have also been nubbinized and since I have been loading up on pix and not posting, there will be a mix of my glorious long elegant nails, and my dumb crappy nubbins.  Blech, I think that's why I haven't wanted to post, so sad about my nubbins.
Oh well.

Manglaze, My new favorite Polish!

OK, first of all, Manglaze is the shiznite!  It is the original Matte Nail Polish. I love their names for the colors too, for example: today's is Fuggin Ugly, I also have Matte is Murder, and I am getting Mayonnaise. Some other colors they have are Butt Taco, Fuck Off and Die, and Lesbihonest. The polishes are pretty inexpensive and available on their Facebook page(normally, right now it's down), and also on amazon. They will have a whole website of their own soon though so watch for that. This is a no nonsense in your face brand and one of the things they like is for you to take a pic of your polish while flipping off the camera and putting it on their Facebook page. You can check out them and all their hi-jinx HERE. Without any further ado, I give you: Fuggin Ugly!

As you can see, it's a great gunmetal grey with a nice shimmer to it. It reminds me of asphalt for some reason. I thought the skulls were the perfect addition.
Oh, and their labels are all designed by independent artists specifically for each color, this one is great cus it has an anime chick on it, love it!

 They rock!

This polish is incredible. Super smooth easy to use, covers in two coats. It dries super fast too, because its a matte finish I think. They've got a great range of colors. I am really excited for Mayonnaise, it's a shimmery white matte. I am gonna do a gradient with my black grey and white. Possible some lightning with the white over black. I'm also getting a surprise color cuz I won a contest over at The Polish Zombie's blog. Check her out, she's really awesome! She and I are becoming pretty good friends through Facebook. All right, I guess that's it for today.

Another Monkey See Monkey Do!

Hello, it's monday. Time for monkey see, monkey do, Monday.

So, check it out, I was searching for something totally unrelated and found this mani. (beware the site I linked to is not in english) I really don't remember at all where I found this. So, it's been sitting on pinterest for a while, I like to let them sit and then recreate them from memory. It's either a weird challenge to myself or laziness, I don't know which. Usually they aren't exact duplicates of the original and happily this one isn't and I still love it!

For some strange reason, I love dots this way, nice evenly dispersed dots are cool too, but this one reminds me of  this show I watched when I was little called Imagination Station, he taught us how to draw dinos and this is how their spots looked. It was a great show!

This is China Glaze Sun-Kissed and Splish-Splash. Love it! I got a lot of compliments on it. My SweetPea said it looked like dinosaur eggs when I said I thought it looked like dinosaur skin. She said "Dinosaur eggs are always spotty like that." I love her! I really want her to watch Jurassic Park, but everyone says its too mature for her. Pshaw! If she never sees it, she will never learn of the real dangers of genetic manipulation and using frog DNA. Or the diagnostic powers of poop. Also, the hazards of storing cryogenically frozen embryos in shaving cream containers and then running like an ass through a jungle full of man-eaters.

I looked, but didn't find any spotted eggs, but aren't these little guys adorable? yet deadly.

One little kid looked at my nails and he said, "Those nails are so fake!"
"These nails are so not fake!" I retorted. His mom laughed. "I peel oranges with these babies!"
That's me, constantly weirding out little kids. This little kid in particular is obsessed with my dog. When we come outside for potty time, he screams and comes running at full speed yelling "DOGGYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!" then he sits by the dog leaning real close so she'll lick his mouth. It's gross and weirds me out, so I guess the kid deserves all the weirding I can dish. She's a chihuahua though so no one thinks to treat her like a real dog and ask before petting her or be nice around her or anything. What bugs me, is that I tell him to back off cuz it makes my dog nervous, his parents stand there just staring. They don't even laugh. If they laughed I could despise them for being evil, but they stare like they're at a zoo. "Look, darling, our child is in the wild dog pen. The zookeeper is yelling for him to get out. I wonder why? Our son likes to be in there, he doesn't need to come out." Bah! I wish my dog would bite him, but then I'd get in trouble. Which totally sucks! Why should I be in trouble because some little shit likes to torture my dog and then got bit for it. I would stay away from where the kids play but the dumpster(where I throw her poo) is within visual range of their play area. Can't help it.

Oh, well. I'll stop ranting. Not a lot to be done about it. LOL. Plus, why am I ranting on a nail blog about my dumb little neighbor? I thought you'd enjoy a little laugh about the failures of parenting.

HillBilly Bling!!

I am very excited to introduce you to a brand new polish system, Hill Billy Bling!
This system was developed by Mary and Danny and it is inspired by the metal flake paint process that they use on the classic cars they restore. I personally love the metal flake finish on classic cars, so when I heard of this I offered my blog for their first official review. So without further ado:

I was at a birthday party when I heard about this polish. My friend was talking to someone I didn't know about polish, my ears burned and I stepped in. Mary went into detail about how they created this polish and then this company and how they would be at a car show in a week to show it off and sell the kits.  This is their booth:

Mary was doing toes to show off their polish!
This one is SweetPea:

And this is the packaging, super cute!

I love green, so naturally, that is the color I got!

In the Kit, you get:

Base Color and Top Coat:

The base color is a kelly green jelly. It went on pretty smoothly, was a little streaky and thin, but it was just to give a background to the glitter, so I only used one coat.

Glitter:

The glitter is super shiny green mini rectangles. I haven't seen glitter like this before.

And Witty Instructions:

First, paint the base color(really first put on your base coat to protect your nails as always!):

Put a little Glitter and Top Coat in the extra empty container:

Paint the glitter over the base coat and when that's dry add the top coat, Voila:

Indirect Natural Light

Sunshine!

Oh, so glittery and beautiful! The other colors are Red, Gold, Purple, and Orange. The only awesome color name I can remember other than the green is Statutory Grape, lol.

This was actually a pretty easy look to accomplish, just follow the directions. The art didn't work so well, the glitter didn't leave a clean line after the tape was removed. But for a full coverage polish it looks great. You can't tell from my pic but it really looks like the car finish. It has a great depth to it, and the colors are vibrant and gorgeous. I had a hard time deciding between the colors, except gold, I'm not a fan of gold in general, but it was super bright and shiny.

There isn't a website yet, but if you are interested in purchasing this awesome new idea in nail lacquer, let me know. You can email me at arpostels[at]gmail[dot]com. I can get a hold of Mary and Danny and get it to you!

Tell me what you think about this idea and the look. Tell me how you feel about the process or the name. We want feedback!

As always, Happy Manicures

I'm gonna SPLODE!

Ok, I did this actually this past weekend. I found this tutorial on Let Them Have Polish and just had to do it. If any of you really know me, you know my obsession with owls. I love them even though they are made entirely of feathers and rage. So, I took 17 different polishes and made this lovely art:

The pics are long and skinny cuz I took em on my phone, which has much better color sense than my camera, go figure.

So, from Pinky to Thumb here goes: (order is base, belly, glitter)
Pinky- WTFuschia by Blackheart Beauty, Pink Voltage by China Glaze, and a light pink glitter from Bon Bons
Ring- Jealous Type by Blackheart Beauty, I'm With the Lifeguard by China Glaze, and Cosmic by Jordana
Middle- Safety Dance by Blackheart Beauty, Orange You Hot? by China Glaze, and Dani-Mite by Nails By Laura
Index- Blue Me by Blackheart Beauty, Blue Raspberry Taffy by Fingerpaints, and Royally Screwed by Blackheart Beauty
Thumb- Main Squeeze by Blackheart Beauty, No Hard Feelings by Sally Hanson, and Cheatin' by Pure Ice

You may be saying, that's only 15, you can't count. I would say Can too! There is also Superstar by Pure Ice (white) and Ebony Hates Chris by Wet n Wild (Black) so there.

I love this mani and I have some more in the works for this style, kind of a french tip thing.

Okay, I love you, Buh-Bye!

Happy Manicures!

Award?!?!?!

The lovely Dina behind Secretary's Nail Art just gave me an award on Facebook today! Thank you so much! This is pretty neat, because now I get to nominate my favorite bloggers and they will come check me out! My evil plan is coming to fruition, mwahahahahaha!

She posted this on her blog about this award: (she got it here)

  •  Thank the person who gave you this award. That’s common courtesy.
  •  Include a link to their blog. That’s also common courtesy — if you can figure out how to do it.
  •  Next, select 15 blogs/bloggers that you’ve recently discovered or follow regularly. ( I would add, pick blogs or bloggers that are excellent!)
  •  Nominate those 15 bloggers for the Versatile Blogger Award
  •  Finally, tell the person who nominated you 7 things about yourself.
Ok, so 7 things about myself:
  1. I have a nail blog, but nail injuries make me super nauseous.
  2. I dream about painting my nails.
  3. When I was in middle school, I would pierce my nails and put jump rings through the holes.
  4. My first nail art was an American Flag, and I remember making it too, I was very young.
  5. I get a lot of joy seeing my step-daughter get as excited about nail polish as I am.
  6. I love telling people how I do my nail art.
  7. I spend way more time than I should reading nail blogs and surfing for new nail art!
Finally, I will nominate 15 relatively new blogs for this award: (in no particular order)
And I hate playing favorites, but really, this is my favorite blog! Jen The Polished Zombie at I like My Polish Black Just Like My Metal! She already has this award but we'll say she gets the Vice-Versatile Award! With a special award:

LOL!

I love all your blogs and hope you stick around to read mine too!

Happy Manicures!

Ombre not Hombre

Oh ombre, where have you been all my life.  I have seen tons of ombre manis on the blogs and I realized I had tons of blues and could probably pull it off.

Oh, yes. Sooooo pretty.
Pinky - All Night Long by Pure Ice
Ring - Blue Year's Eve by China Glaze
Middle - Sweet Peacock by Orly
Index - Blue Iguana by China Glaze
Thumb - A light blue franken I made. Call it Nice Ice

I have had a polisher's block lately so this is actually kind of old. I have a ton of stuff that I haven't published yet. I figured that I would post old stuff for now until I get out of this funk.

Monkey See Monkey Do!

Today I have a lovely Monkey See Monkey Do that I am copying straight from Emma Thea at Manicurity!

Here's her design for the hunger games challenge, District 13:

Aren't they great? She used a base of OPI Number One Nemesis and the goo is Orly Glowstick.  I love it! It looks so toxic.

So, I tried it:

I also used OPI Number One Nemesis, but I mattified it with Warpaint Beauty Matte, and the goo is China Glaze Sun-Kissed.  I like hers a bit better in the pics, but mine was still cool in real life. I had to lower the red tones a bit to get it the color it is, I should have done a touch more. Anyways, make sure to check out her Blog, she's got some really great nail art!

Happy Manicures!
